Me, my boyfriend and our dog, Mr. Cache live in an Akumal Villa down in Riviera Maya. We decided to spend our first Holiday together with his family in Merida. So on the 24th I worked until 1 o´clock because our plan was to get going at 2 in the afternoon sharp, since a 4 hour dive awaited us before having our special turkey dinner. It was nuts to think we would exit Akumal on schedule! We’ve never stand out for being an “on time” couple!

As previewed we left our Akumal Villa at 5pm and after a long night and a straight drive (without a need to exaggerate Merida’s highway is the straightest and the most boring one in the world) we got to uncle Mau’s place. After noticing that Mr. Cache was definitely not invited nor welcome we tied him to a tree in the backyard; we quickly dressed up for the occasion and were soon having holiday snacks over the tree.

In my experience the whole party was a complete new experience, everyone in the family was having a great time, fifteen children were running around picking on Mr. Cache, Mr. Cache didn’t stop barking and crying (of course because he was far away from his familiar home in the Riviera Maya), seven guests played Wii and many others like me nearly dying from starvation, were looking for the best timing to rob food from the unreachable table, since dinner was served until midnight.

Today is the 25th and I awoke up to a fatal Holiday Inn vacation morning, the place itself made me sick for the rest of the day. It didn’t matter if I was with my boyfriend and my cute dog! The vacation was ruined and I had to go back home so as to save me from holiday depression.

Can you imagine the feeling of touching the soft furs of a pup, its wet licking habits that could irritate you sometimes and the feel of that warm cuddle. A puppy melts the hearts and softens the billfolds as adults who swear they don’t need a dog end up with a pup before they can say, “What just happened here?” Even if you admit it or not, there is really that unexplainable feeling as if you were being charmed when you tend to bring home a puppy that needs you as much as an does. It’s an chance to school the dog from an early age to fit your environment and life style.

If you have children, you can show them how to be gentle in caring for the pup. Having a pup to be with you while you are growing up will surely give out a lot of fun memories to remember. But don’t ever get blinded by all those fun and sweet moments that a pup can give you since there are other things that you should also think about - such as the times that you need to let your puppy have that paper training, walk with him on a lead, make him chew his toys instead of your most precious and expensive shoes and other things that a usual puppy does that would either make you give it up or lead you to your madness. Surely, a pup is one animal that would seem to be so dear to you, nevertheless, you must think about that it can be very demanding of your time and efforts. Compared to taking care of a mature dog, during the first few months of taking care a pup would usually demand more of your time. Dogs are normally herded together in some shelters – many just a few months out of puppy phase.

Due to the stock or the dog’s history, there would be no difficulty knowing which dog is best for a household with kids or merely those dogs which are better off with adults since the seller or adoption facility will surely recommend you with what you need according to the facts about the dog. Without delay, knowing the full size of the dog will be possible and really helpful for you since you will be able to determine whether the dog can fit into your appartment. You are allowed to visit the dog just before you make up your mind so why don’t you savor the moment of taking him to a walk? When you’re assessing a litter of puppies from a breeder, make sure you get to “meet” mom and dad. The thought of knowing the potential traits that your puppy is more likely to have especially when it grows up would surely bug your mind.

A puppy is going to adjust to your home better than an older dog, still, that won’t give the conclusion that a mature dog is not likely to feel comfortable with your home. A pup’s needs are simply different to that of the needs of an older dog. A pup has to be trained from square one. Some training might have been given to a mature dog, nevertheless, if proper nutrition and care with regards to its health wasn’t given that much attention, you are likely to have additional expenses for its healthcare or for vet bills. Or, the once fond of children puppy had turned into a grumpy old dog.

Find a great puppy for sale at DogSearcher.com and other dog classified sites like it, but be sure to consider what has been said in this article about if a puppy is the right fit for you and your family.

Acquiring a new dog simply depends upon your many considered motives - so instead of focusing your time and efforts towards buying a pedigree money that can surely cost you a lot of money, you might as well consider adopting an older shelter dog that needs a warm home and family. But if showing or breeding is your aim, a pup with papers might suit your needs more. A pup with complete documentation can surely cater to your desires if you want to show it off or breed in the future. If you plan to show off your dog or have it breed in the long run, then getting a pup with all the applicable records can surely go with whatever you want or require.

Before buying a wooden porch swing, it’s important to make sure that the swing you are buying meets a number of important criteria. Here is a list of what you should look for in a swing, along with some reasons why it’s important.

Hand Made - A hand made swing is certainly a must when buying a porch swing. This is because each piece is individually crafted, ensuring better cuts and a smoother finish.

Cypress - Cypress has been called the “eternal wood” because of its ability to stand up to the elements. A cypress swing is as durable as teak, while being as little as one-tenth the price! Don’t buy a swing made from exotic woods only to watch it rot on your porch.

Size - Be sure that the porch swing you choose is the correct size to fit on your porch, and to fit the number of people you expect to be swinging on it.

Accessories - Would you like your swing to have a cup holder? An interesting question, perhaps, but certainly something to think about. What will you want with you while on your porch swing? Keep that in mind when looking at what’s available.

The Porch Swings I Love Most

Of course, I have a very strong preference in porch swings. There is one particular artisan who builds beautiful, durable porch swings from Cypress. His name is Ted Leger (pronounced Lay-shay), and he’s based in Louisiana (where a lot of cypress trees grow). All of his swings are hand made, and he can ship anywhere in the USA.
